Youth Climate Congress 2020 in Poznań

December 21, 2020

The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Poznań has been the organizer of the Youth Climate Congress – an event addressed to secondary school students since 2018. The Congress is an excellent opportunity to exchange opinions and broaden the knowledge of ecology by young people, with particular emphasis on climate issues.

Due to the Covid-19 and related restrictions, the Youth Climate Congress 2020 was held online. Recorded speeches of experts were made available to schools in an online form and constitute interesting teaching material.

As part of the event, prof. Andrzej Mizgajski, representing the TeRRIFICA project team, prepared a video lecture in which he discussed the problem of climate change on a global and local scale and identified challenges important for the region of the Poznań Agglomeration. An important part of his speech was to draw attention to nature-based solutions, the implementation of which in urban areas can significantly support adaptation to climate change and improve the supply of ecosystem services. An important element of the lecture was explaining the goals of the TeRRIFCA project and the activities undertaken to map the effects of climate change using the crowd-mapping tool #MapujKlimat (mapujklimat.terrifica.eu).
