Exhibition „Climate Impact on the inland waters of Lower Saxony” and TeRRIFICA project results can be seen in the adult education center in Cloppenburg

Water – more and more often too little and sometimes far too much at once. The problems that climate change brings with it in relation to water were the focus of the cooperation between the TeRRIFICA team in the Oldenburg Münsterland and the Cloppenburg Adult Education Centre. There, the touring exhibition „KlimaEinFluss (Climate Impact)” of the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) is shown, in which the possible consequences of climate change on inland waters in Lower Saxony are presented using various models. This exhibition is complemented by results from the TeRRIFICA project: until mid-October, it provides an insight into selected observations and personal experiences with extreme weather events that were collected from the population in Oldenburger Münsterland during the project. Also on display are ideas and exhibits for local climate adaptation measures as well as practical examples for one’s own actions in the private environment.

As part of the opening of the exhibition, which took place during the first Germany-wide „Week of Climate Adaptation” of the Centre for Climate Adaptation, the TeRRIFICA team invited people to take a climate tour through the city centre of Cloppenburg. The team illustrated the necessary climate adaptation measures on the basis of concrete examples on site. At the same time, however, positive measures that have been developed within the framework of the TeRRIFICA project, among others, were also shown.
